Iron Bowl 2011

So I'm sitting here, after watching LSU decimate Arkansas, wondering where this leaves the Tide.
I remember the days of knowing we were always contenders for the national championship; the conference championship was almost always a given. The rivalry hadn't reached the point of hatred, mainly because Ralph "Shug" Jordan and Paul "Bear" Bryant were true friends and strong rivals. I don't care what you think, the Iron Bowl should be played in Birmingham. Iron, Birmingham, hello? I saw Alabama lose their share in Legion Field, so that Bama luck thing is a fallacy.
It's not that Alabama is a better school than Auburn, but after all it is THE University of Alabama, We won championships decades ago, and after the return of Paul Bryant, the championships came closer and closer together. We won the National Championship in 1966, when the damn AP sportwriters spontaneously went insane and bestowed 1 and 2 to Notre Dame and Michigan State, for courageously playing for a tie, rather than opting for the win. Say what you like, but in the fall of 1966 the undisputed, undefeated champion was Alabama, whether they gave it to us or not.
You may not like it but no matter how strong the rivalry. Alabama will continue to be the favorite; tradition demands it.
I've cheered for Auburn and all SEC teams, but tomorrow is the day allegiance counts.
And mine lies with the Crimson Tide. Win or lose, my Tide.
